Short version: your puzzles stay in your own browser, and nothing that identifies you is sent anywhere.

What stays on your device

Your guesses, results, streaks and win rate are kept in your browser's local storage. They never leave your device, they are not tied to an account, and clearing your browser data erases them for good. There is no account to make and no email is ever collected.

What the server sees

To score a guess, your browser sends the game, the day, and the list of names you have guessed. That request carries no identifier and is not logged against you. The server keeps no profile and sets no cookie of its own.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics to count how many people play and where they get stuck. It runs only if you accept analytics cookies. IP addresses are truncated by Google before storage and we never send anything that could identify you personally.

Changing your mind

Your choice is stored on your device and nowhere else. To change it, clear this site's data in your browser and the question will be asked again on your next visit.

Children

The game is suitable for all ages and collects nothing from anyone, so there is nothing held about a child to request or delete.

Who is responsible

Guess the Thing is run by one independent developer rather than a company. They are the person who decides what happens to any data this policy describes, and the address below reaches them directly rather than a support queue.

For anything about this policy, including a request to see or delete data held about you, write to hello@griddle.games. There is no account and no profile, so in most cases there is nothing to hand over, but the address is read.
